As I head home from a great #RDC24 for PRELOADED, I wanted to reflect on my 5x big takeaways from the 2 days of keynotes, talks, booths, workshops and awards.📈 *GROWTH, GROWTH, GROWTH*📈 Dave Buszucki set out clear and ambitious growth goals, which were repeated regularly throughout the event—a drive towards 1 billion users and attaining a 10% revenue share of the global gaming market. 💵 *YOUR ROBLOX BUSINESS* 💵 - As expected, a huge focus was on enabling creators to #create more and #grow their businesses. A slew of announcements focused on the commercial benefits to creators - from the Creator Affiliate Programme incentivising creators to attract new users to the platform, very competitive rev-share models for paid-for content, greater commerce opportunities, and in-game advertising expansion. There was a clear focus on ensuring creators felt confident establishing and growing their business on-platform. The major #Shopify integration also shows the drive to bring off-platform businesses into the #Roblox ecosystem and to create greater relevancy for brands outside of pure advertising.🌎 *GOING GLOBAL* 🌏 - Already a global platform with especially high adoption in Western markets such as the US, Canada and Europe, Roblox has shifted gear with major gains in both Asia Pacific (20.2m DAU last Q, up 31% YoY) and ROW (21.6m DAU last Q, up 22% YoY). Along with creator tools such as AI-powered thumbnail translations and voice-chat translations, there was plenty of discussion about the ‘unmet international demand’ for locale-specific content in these new markets and the opportunities that presents to creators.👫 *SOCIAL IMPORTANCE* 👫- With the biggest cheer from the crowd coming from the announcement of the long-awaited Party function, the importance of playing together and how much of a social platform Roblox is was never more apparent. Roblox is a place to connect, socialise and play. Technical features such as the new Harmony architecture, major improvements in app-load time, and improvements to reduce crashes on all platforms (particularly low-end Android 2Gb devices) Roblox now supports 100-player games, highlighting their big push toward mass social experiences.🗺 *FIND YOUR CROWD*🗺 With more content on the platform than ever, making sure creators had the opportunity to reach their intended audience was notable, with discovery features getting some minor but important tweaks—audience-specific thumbnails, the return of ‘genres’, and improved AI recommendations for search all showed a concerted effort to ensure that creators can find their audience and audiences can find content that most is most relevant to them.Roblox looks to have a very interesting future!

As one of the ~60% of the UK population that wear glasses, this has been my experience with our studio #visionpro so far 😢. It’s a personal device, no doubt. Those $149 optical inserts are a must if you’re as blind as me 👀. This is only the second XR device I’ve ever tried which I cannot fundamentally use whilst wearing my glasses (they just don’t fit it). Will Apple finally be the reason I get laser? 😝
